Oh my, that little break I took from writing turned int a super huge break!

I’m back…..I think.

My life has gone through some changes which prevented me from maintaining my blog these past 10 months (has it been that long?). Don’t worry, these have been positive changes that have inspired me to start writing again.

Hopefully I will be able to stay motivated and work on some new reviews.

Diva Cup

I never thought that I would actually be writing about a product like this, but after my 5th month with it, I thought it deserved a little praise.The fact that I’m writing about something related to my period is amazing so here goes.

I had read only a handful of reviews about the Diva Cup prior to purchasing it so I was a little unsure as to what I should expect. All I knew is that it was this little cup like thing that could potentially replace something that I loathe more than anything; tampons! Yes, I hate tampons. Always have and always will. Pads are messy and uncomfortable but tampons just made me feel horrible.

The Diva Cup is a small silicone cup that collects menstrual flow instead of absorbing it like a tampon. And unlike a tampon, the Diva Cup can be worn for up to 12 hours before you need to empty it. As well, the Diva Cup only collects your menstrual flow, it doesn’t absorb and collect other fluids that your body needs like a tampon does.

Ever since I first started getting my period (at age 10, *gasp*), it has become something that I dread. I’m sure 99.99% of women dread getting theirs as well but being butch, I feel an increased sense of annoyance during these days. I have no desire to have children so the whole cycle just feels like my body is rebeling against what I want. Buying tampons and pads even irks me. I don’t know why but I’ve always felt somewhat shy and embarrassed to be buying those items. I can buy condoms, lube and sex toys no problem but put a box of Tampax in my hands and I turn beat red. Also, I never carry a purse or a bag of any sorts so having to carry around extra tampons was always a bit of a hassle.

After doing my research on the Diva Cup, I decided it was time to try it. I was able to find it in my local London Drugs store for $35. It comes in a bright pink box with flowers all over it. Girly and annoying but I sucked it up and brought it home.

The Diva Cup comes in 2 sizes; “1″ for women under 30 or who haven’t had a child and “2″ for those who are over 30 or have popped one out. It’s made of 100% silicone. Those of you who have silicone toys should be familar with the care of this material. Cleaning your Diva Cup is quite similar to cleaning your butt plugs and dildos. Soap and water works well for a quick clean up and boiling it for 3.5 minutes after your cycle is a must. The company recommends replacing your Diva Cup after a year but if you take care of it properly I don’t see a reason why it couldn’t be used longer.

The first time I tried inserting the Diva Cup I probably looked like a drunken contortionist. The instructions were very detailed yet I still could not manage to get the damn thing in. Thankfully there were several helpful tips online. There are 2 folding types that are recommended, the C-Fold where you just fold the cup in 2 and slide it in and the Push-Down fold where you push one end in towards the center to form a point. I prefer the Push-Down fold as it makes the cup smaller and easier to insert. Once it’s in it will usually just pop open like an umbrella and you can somewhat twist it in place.

Once it’s in you can barely feel it if you’ve inserted it right. If it’s not in right you will know. I haven’t had too many mishaps with it and I am a super clutz so I guess I’m doing good so far. The Diva Cup has a little stem on the bottom that you pinch to remove the cup. Removing it can be a bit tricky (and gross, spillage, ewww) and I’ve had a few “ouch” moments as well. After a few times you kind of get used to it, I think most people develop their own removal methods. Mind is more a pull and pop method if that makes any sense.

As I stated before; I’m on my 5th month with the Diva Cup and I couldn’t be happier. I have only had one minor leak and it has made my monthly hell much more tolerable. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I have noticed a reduction in cramps since using it. Perhaps it has something to do with it not absorbing everything it comes in contact with like a tampon does. Whatever the reason, I am thankful for it. The cramps I used to get usually cripple me for a good part of a day. I’ve actually missed work at times because of them.

Not having to buy tampons or pads these past few months has been a real bonus for me. Not only do I not have to use a product that I hate but I’m saving money in the long run. I’m able to tuck it away discreetly in my messenger bag when at work and I don’t have to worry about changing it during the day.

This is probably the best thing I’ve purchased this year and I think all women should get one. Ditch the tampons and stupid pads, I have and I’m not going back.

The little big toy that could!

I have achieved another one of my sex toy goals; use the Vixen Tristan plug. This little wonder plug had been on my wish list ever since I started my exploration of anal toys. I didn’t purchase it until recently because I was working my way up to it. It took awhile but that time spent with my other plugs like the Little Flirt and Fun Factory Bootie was well worth it. Looking at the stats of this toy one would think that it’s little or an average size but this tiny toy packs a big punch that feels wonderful.

This dashing little plug was designed by Tristan Taormino, author of such books as the Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women and The Big Book of Sex Toys. It’s made of Vixen’s super smooth high quality silicone and measures in at 3 1/2” long, 1 1/2” in diameter on the head and 1” in diameter for the shaft. It’s quite a stout little plug and seems a lot heftier than the other plugs in my collection.

The head of the Tristan plug does appear to be a little large when compared to other plugs. I was worried that I had overestimated myself and that this toy would be too big or too difficult to insert. Thankfully the Tristan is quite sturdy so it’s quite easy to work with when you’re nice and relaxed and using the right amount of lube. The base of this plug is fantastic. It flares out on both ends and is tapered in the center so it can sit nicely between your cheeks when in use. Because of this large base you don’t have to worry about it going somewhere it shouldn’t and I found it to be very comfortable to wear.

As with other silicone toys of its caliber; the Tristan is non-porous and can be boiled for about 5 minutes to sterilize it after use. Of course, it’s compatible with water based lubes. I personally recommend Maximus lube for anal toys as it’s thicker and makes larger toys like this more comfortable upon insertion.

As with other Vixen toys, the Tristan plug comes in its own plastic tube which is ideal for storing this little gem.

When I first popped this plug out of its tube I was thinking that I was crazy to want to stick something this stout up my butt. By now I consider myself to be somewhat experienced with anal toys but I admit that the size of the Tristan plug did set me back a bit. Upon closer examination I realized that it really wasn’t that much bigger than my Fuze Hero plug. With the right amount of warm up and a good amount of lube, I was able to slide the plug in without any difficulty. Due to the generous girth of the Tristan, you’re whole body is aware of it’s presence and it feels very, very nice. I do enjoy the full feeling that a toy like this delivers and the Tristan made me a very happy girl.

I first kept the plug in for a short time before working my clit with my Mystic Wand. I wanted to get a real feel for the Tristan and see how comfortable it can be when worn for an extended period of time. With other plugs, there are times where you get used to it being inside you and it gets a little too comfortable and you forget it’s there. With the Tristan plug, its size is always there to remind you that it’s there waiting for your next move. As with my other butt toys, I had to put the Tristan through my silly little bouncy test where I attempt to see if it will pop out if I shimmy and shake; the Tristan passed this test with flying colors. After my silly little tests, it was time to get down to business. The full feeling that the Tristan provides adds so much more pleasure to any other stimulation. A large butt plug and a powerful vibrator are just what the kinky doctor ordered. It’s a wonderful combination for me.

I have yet to use the Tristan in addition to using a dildo on myself but the thought of a little double penetration action really gets my heart a racing. It might also be fun to wear this while I’m fucking someone else with my strap-on. I have so many plans for this toy, I just have to find the right time and the right partner to experience them with.

I cannot find any flaws with this toy, it is designed to perfection. Although I consider it to be a little too large for a beginner it is a toy that one could work up to. It would be perfect for someone a little more experienced with anal play. For those wanting a little something extra; Vixen does have a larger version which is about a 1/4″ bigger in all areas and also fits a bullet vibe for some extra zing. The Tristan is between $45-55 in most places so it’s an average price for a toy of its quality. It’s an excellent addition to any toy box and if taken care of properly it will last you a very long time.

I truly adore this charming little plug. It really has lived up to my expectations and I will be making a point to include in my future sexual escapades. I’m so impressed with this toy, I hope everyone gets one in their stocking this Christmas (I know that’s a long ways away but this little butt stuffer would make a great stocking stuffer for your kinkier friends).

Tantus Acute…it’s so cute!

Tantus toys have become my new toy obsession. They’re well made, gorgeous and affordable. And most of them are just downright cute and adorable, I can’t help but give them a new home in my toy box! The latest addition to my Tantus collection is the Tantus Acute. It’s an average sized g-spot dildo with a great curve to it which is just right for hitting all the right spots. It’s not only cute, it’s also super sexy!

I’m really starting to go ga-ga over the 100% ultra-premium silicone that Tantus uses on their toys. I know they’re not the only company using high quality silicone but there’s just something about it that sets it apart from the rest. Maybe they sprinkle some magic fairy dust in it or something, I don’t know, one could only hope, that would be neat. The Acute is soft and squishy but still firm enough for a damn good fucking.

The Acute is 5” long with a diameter of 1.25” so it’s not overly large or small. For me it’s a perfect mid-sized dildo (I sound like a car commercial here) that would be perfect for a beginner but still be able to satisfy the most savvy dildo connoisseur. The head of the Acute is well formed and is the perfect size for g-spot stimulation. The shaft has some nice little ridges on it for a little more sensation when going in and out.

I’m usually not a big fan of “pretty” toys, I avoid anything pink so I got the darkest color the Acute comes in, Midnight Purple. It also comes in a lighter Purple Haze and a cream colored shade as well. The silicone Tantus uses is so glossy and distinctive, it makes the Acute a truly gorgeous toy. I could sit here and stare at it all day but playing with it is much more enjoyable!

The curve on the Acute makes it very easy to handle when using it on yourself. It also allows you to angle it perfectly for g-spot stimulation. No need to worry about contorting yourself into different positions just to reach the right spots. Although the Acute is a little on the short side, one should have no trouble making it work for them. The base of the Acute is my only gripe with the toy; it’s too small. I was able to fit it in my SpareParts Joque harness but I would need a much smaller o-ring in order to use it with my Aslan Commando harness. With the Commando, the Acute just popped right out. The base is more of an oval shape and very thin. If it was fully round and maybe a bit thicker it would be a perfect fit for the standard o-rings that come with most harnesses.

As it’s made of 100% silicone, the Acute can easily be cleaned by using warm soap and water and it can be boiled as well. Again folks; silicone toy = water based lube, should be a no brainer by now but it’s always good to mention it. As with other Tantus toys; the Acute comes in the standard plastic case which unfortunately, is not ideal for storing your dildo.

The Acute feels amazing inside. The size is perfect for me and the small ridges add just the right amount of extra pleasure while fucking with it. I didn’t use any other toys with it at first, just me, the Acute and a little manual clitoral stimulation. It holds my Sliquid Organic lube very well and it’s very easy to work with. The toy is very soft and supple which makes it a very gentle toy to use on yourself. Although it is very soft and flexible, it still provides the right amount of pressure I need for a g-spot orgasm. The head of the Acute is just the right size and angle to find my g-spot on every thrust.

The curve of the Acute and its texture do set it apart from the other Tantus toys that I have. There are a few similar Tantus dildos but I feel that they all have their own uniqueness that set them apart from each other. My only problem with the Acute is the base. I want to use it as a strap on but I’m afraid that the base is just too small and thin for any rough play.

Each time I try a new Tantus toy I am blown away by the quality and the Acute is no different. This is a high quality silicone dildo that is affordably priced ($35-45) and is enough to satisfy toy virgins and veterans alike. It’s been a wonderful addition to my toy box and I look forward to adding more of its counterparts to my collection very soon. I’m so enamored by this toy I want to get one for all my friends but they’re probably be a little freaked out if I show up at their places bearing gifts of dildos.

Mystic Wand

Dear Hitachi Magic Wand,

I know you’ve been in my toy box for a very long time. We’ve had some great times together. This is hard for me to say but…..I’ve found a new vibrator. It’s not you, it’s me, I’m a sucker for anything small, powerful and quiet. No I’m not calling you big or loud but when compared to my new Mystic Wand, you are a little on the large side and I have to crank up some Slayer whenever I want to spend a little time with you.

And two speeds? They Mystic Wand has three speeds and three pulse modes that that really make my clit happy. Yes you can take me from 0 to orgasm in the blink of an eye but I need a little variety every now and then. You will still have a special place in my toy box but you just won’t be leaving it for awhile since I’m having too much fun with my Mystic Wand.

Yes, it’s true, I have found a new favorite vibrator and it is the Mystic Wand! I have long sung the praises of the wonderful Hitachi Magic Wand so it was hard for me to relegate it to a second tier toy in my toy box. Spend a little time with this little wonder and you’ll understand why. I hate to constantly compare it to the Magic Wand but it’s hard not to since they’re so similar.

The Mystic Wand has the same basic design of the Magic Wand and other similar toys. It has a hard plastic handle and a soft and flexible silicone head. It’s only 8.5” long so it’s much more discreet than the Hitachi.

Magic Wand vs Mystic Wand

Want a powerful vibrator but don’t want the loud buzz usually associated with powerful toys? Get the Mystic Wand. It features three speeds, the highest being just as powerful as the low setting on the Hitachi and it won’t wake the whole neighborhood. In addition to the three speeds, the Mystic Wand also boasts three pulse modes! They range from a hard thump, thump, thump mode to a super teasing thump and buzz setting finishing off with a nice low intermittent buzz. I found these options to be a huge win for the Mystic Wand as I’m not always in the mood for a super strong vibration. It’s nice to have the variety and the pulse patterns are great for teasing a partner with *wink wink*.

The Mystic Wand has two buttons; one for on and off, the second for cycling through the speeds and pulses. It also has a light above the function button which really does nothing but light up and look cool. Maybe it can also be used as a night light or a flash light. Or better yet, a lightsaber! Ok, maybe not, but I would totally whip out the Mystic Wand if I somehow got talked into a naughty Star Wars roleplaying scene (which actually wouldn’t be too hard to talk me into). Ok, super geek mode off, back to the toy. It runs on four AA batteries so no hunting for a spare wall socket when you want a quick rocket blast to the planet orgasm.

Another huge plus with the Mystic Wand is the noise level, it’s surprisingly low for such a powerful toy. It’s very room mate friendly for those who don’t want to alert everyone around them that they’re getting off. The highest vibration speed is the loudest of the bunch but it is still quite low when compared to other vibrators.

Since the head of the Mystic Wand is silicone and the handle being hard plastic, clean up is quite simple; soap and water or toy cleaner and you’re good to go. Of course; silicone toy = water based lube, don’t want to ruin your new little buddy with the wrong stuff now do you?

The Mystic Wand comes in the standard plastic toy packaging. It’s not something that you would (or could) re-use as a storage box but thankfully it comes with a handy little storage bag.

I received this toy in an order that included a few other toys, all of which I was eager to try but they were all shoved aside so I could get my hands on the Mystic Wand. I had read so many good things about this vibe; quiet, powerful, cute! I wanted it and I wanted it now. Instead of diving right in, I took my time cycling through the speed and pulsation cycles to see what I was in for. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was. On a scale of 1 -5 (5 being loudest), I’d give it about a 2.5. It’s not whisper quiet but unless your walls are made of rice paper, no one else should be able to hear it. They’ll probably hear you but they won’t hear the toy.

I didn’t use it with any other toys; I wanted to see how it felt, how long I could hold off with it and then how fast I could come with it. I played around with the pulse cycles for awhile and they were fun, they’re a nice little warm up and good way to tease your clit. Once I cycled over to the middle speed, it was all systems go! Kicking it up to the higher speed and I was gone! Just like it’s big sister the Hitachi, the Mystic Wand got me off so well I was uttering profanities in a language I don’t even think exists.

Of course the Mystic Wand will always be compared to the marvelous Magic Wand because they’re pretty much identical aside from the size. Each toy will deliver what it promises; orgasms! Considering the speed and pulse options and the noise level of the Mystic Wand, it’s now at the top of my toy box. I honestly cannot find any cons for this toy. I guess the batteries could be a bit of a pain if you ran out of fresh batteries and had to rob the TV remotes in your house to power your vibe but that is such a minor problem.

Being a long time Hitachi fan I was very skeptical on whether or not the Mystic Wand could live up to the hype that I have read about it but it did, in fact, it surpassed my expectations. It packs a real big punch for such a small toy that runs on a few batteries. It’s cheaper ($50-70) than its larger counterparts and can still deliver the power you’re looking for. I haven’t officially retired my Hitachi, it still works wonders on my bad back and shoulders, but when I need a damn good clitoral orgasm I’ll be reaching for the Mystic Wand.

(Now I’m digging through my toy box to find other toys that I could work into a super geeky and naughty Star Wars scene. I think I’ve found a new kink to dive into)

Happy Day!

Arrived home today to find a new box of goodies waiting for me. This run included the Tantus Acute, Dream Toys Cherries Jubilee (which looks gorgeous!), Cal Exotics Clit Clamp, Mystic Wand and the Vixen Tristan plug which I have been dying to get my hands on for months! I also got some flavored lube and massage oil from Hathor and some Kimono condoms. You’re probably thinking “why does a lesbian need condoms?” and the short answer to that is it’s for my toys. It makes clean up easier and the Kimono condoms are the only ones I like to use since they don’t feel as “icky” and thick as other condoms. Can’t wait to take some of these for a test drive!

Shake, shake, shake….shake your Bootie!

It’s not very often that I can look at a toy and go “Awwwwww”, but the Bootie from Fun Factory has a serious cute factor to it. Maybe it’s just the name of the toy, Bootie, that makes me smile. Maybe if it was named the Destroyer or Annihilator it would lose its cute factor but whatever it’s called and no matter how adorable I think it is, The Bootie is a fantastic butt plug!

Like other Fun Factory toys, the Bootie is made of 100% certified silicone and has a smooth silky surface. It comes in two colors; black and purple. It’s soft enough to feel super comfortable while inside but still has enough stability for easy insertion during solo play.

The Bootie has a great base to it. Instead of flaring out all around the end of the plug, it has two sections that taper off to form a handle type base. I found this to be a huge bonus for this toy as this design allows the base to sit nicely between my butt cheeks. The added comfort is very much appreciated. The Bootie plug is a great size and shape for a beginner. It’s 3” long, 2 3/4” insertable length with a 3” circumference and 1” diameter. It’s just a little bit bigger than the Tantus Little Flirt, which is another great beginner plug, but I found that the Bootie stays in place much easier than the Little Flirt.

I’m used to plugs with smaller points and wider centers so the Bootie was a bit of a change for me. The end of the Bootie is the widest part of the plug which could be a little intimidating to some butt beginners. I admit I was a little worried about how it would feel going in but if you’re ready and the toy is lubed up properly you should have no trouble sliding the Bootie in place.

As with other silicone toys, looking after your Bootie is simple. A little warm water and soap for a quick clean up or it can be boiled for 3-5 minutes for complete sterilization. Of course water based lubes only folks. I prefer Maximus lube for my butt toys and it works well the the Bootie.

The Bootie comes in a basic cardboard and plastic packaging with care instructions and information on other Fun Factory products. Unfortunately the packaging is not something you can store your toy in afterward. One thing I found funny about the packaging is the “warning” label on the side. Just in case you were not aware of this, you cannot put butt plugs up your nose. The fact that they actually had to put this warning on the box makes me wonder if someone has actually done that.

Was this warning really necessary?

For my first use of the Bootie, I decided to leave it in for a little while before getting off. The base made it very comfortable and I was able to pretty much go about my daily routine with it in. The larger end of the Bootie made me very aware that I had it in and I did feel very full but it was a very pleasant feeling. After hoping around the house with my Bootie for a bit it was time to get down to business. Since my first use of the Little Flirt, I frequently incorporate butt plugs into my masturbation sessions (yes they’re sessions because I like it to last for awhile). The added feeling of being full like that just increases the overall pleasure for me. The feeling of the Bootie did remind me of the Fuze Hero plug because of its width but it just fit me so much better. I can be a little paranoid about anal toys, I sometimes have this nagging fear in the back of my brain about accidentally losing the plug in my butt. Thankfully, the design of the base on the Bootie put my mind at ease so I was able to fully enjoy the toy.

Once I got myself all worked up, I went to work on my g-spot with my Lelo Ella. A little manual work on my clit and I was soon rolling. The addition of a plug like the Bootie just adds a little extra thrill to my orgasms. I could never get off with the Bootie along but having it in brings some much needed attention to an area that I have pretty much ignored until recently. Even with some furious fucking with the Ella, the Bootie stayed in place like a champ which is a huge plus because I would hate to stop mid fuck to put a run away butt plug back in.

The shape of the Bootie sets it apart from other butt plus its size. Instead of just being a straight point, it curves off at the half way point which is probably what helps it stay in place so well. I really can’t find anything bad to say about the Bootie. For me it’s just an all around perfect butt plug.

Overall, the Bootie is an amazing toy for both beginners and those with some butt plug experience. It might be a little on the small side for those used to larger toys but the unique shape of the Bootie makes it worth checking out. The Bootie can be found for around $30-40 so it’s an affordable addition to any toy box. The quality of this toy is superb and with the proper care it could last you a very long time. I have only had the Bootie for a little while but it’s already become my go-to plug. I have my fingers crossed that Fun Factory comes out with a slightly larger version of the Bootie in the near future as I seem to always be setting the bar higher when it comes to the size of the new toys I want to try.
